Dear Foust Elementary and Community,

🌺 Welcome

Welcome to another school year! I am thrilled to introduce myself and even more excited to begin another incredible year of learning, growing, and celebrating alongside each of you.

My name is Doretha Winstead, and it is truly an honor to serve as the Assistant Principal here at Foust. With over 20 years in education and entering my fifth year as a school administrator here in GCS, I have had the privilege of working with amazing students, families, and educators in both elementary and middle schools. Every experience has strengthened my belief that schools thrive when we work together with purpose, compassion, and high expectations.

I believe in leading with love, compassion, and a commitment to doing what’s best for students and teachers. My goal is to ensure that every student experiences high-quality instruction in an environment filled with love, laughter, encouragement, and endless opportunities to grow. We want our students to discover their strengths, embrace challenges, and believe that anything is possible.

🌼 A Little About Me

When I'm away from school, I enjoy the simple things that bring joy to life. I love curling up with a good book, going glamping, catching a great movie, and making lasting memories with my family and friends. I'm also a proud Duke Basketball fan—there's nothing quite like the excitement of cheering on the Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium! Those moments help me recharge and remind me of the importance of balance, fun, and spending time with the people we love.
